Captain Alan has fished the waters off the New Jersey Coast his entire life. He loved it so much he started working on boats when he was only 11 years old. One could say he was born for this. He earned his captain's license when he was just 19 years old and has been safely running boats ever since. All of the legacy of the Miss Belmar has taught Alan how to operate his boat in a professional and safe manner and how to furnish his vessel for maximum comfort for his passengers. With 40 years experience, very few can match the expertise that Captain Alan has in running charters and navigating the coastal waters off the New Jersey Shore.

Captain Rich has been working on boats his whole life. He started out as a deckhand and quickly learned he has mechanical skills as well. There is very little on a boat that Rich cannot fix. Rich worked on land for 37 years with a NJ gas company but is now retired and working full time on the boats again. Captain Rich is one of our most versatile crew members, whether it's running the deck or running the boat, Rich can do it all!

Captain Bob, or B.P. as he is called, has been working on boats longer than anyone here. He is a very experienced Captain who has worked all along the east coast. Captain BP can surely tell you some tails of the sea! He is now semi-retired and spends winters in Florida and summers at the Jersey Shore. We are fortunate to have him run many of our summer trips.

Like most of our crew, Johnny has grown up being on boats. His love for boats and being on the ocean motivated him to start working with Miss Belmar when he was just 13 years old. After graduating high school, Johnny went on to college but kept working on the boats during the summer months. He left to work on land, got married and had 4 beautiful girls, but the call of the ocean never left him. Now semi-retired, Captain Johnny is very happy to be back with Miss Belmar working as one of our captains.

Danielle is a Ph.D. student at Rutgers University and is the lead researcher for Gotham Whale, a nonprofit that is documenting whale sightings in the NY/NJ waters. She is extremely knowledgeable about the whales and dolphins we see making our trips not only fun, but educational as well. Danielle has been observing whales in the area for over 5 years and has identified over 250 individual whales!

Trisha has a master's degree in Conservation Biology from Columbia University and is a stranding volunteer with the Marine Mammal Stranding Center. She is passionate about dolphins and whales and loves to share her knowledge about them with our guests. Trisha knows that if people fall in love with the ocean and marine life in it, they will be more inclined to protect it. She finds great joy in spreading the love for whales and dolphins knowing that it is one small way to help protect them into the future.
